Hazel M. (Amirault) Martel, of Malden, formerly a 42 year resident of Melrose, passed away on June 13, 2018 at the age of 92. Hazel was born in Malden on June 12, 1926 to Deremie & Annie (LeBlanc) Amirault. She was raised in Malden and graduated from the Cheverus High School. Hazel worked as a machinist at Spirit Inc. in Wakefield for over 25 years, was a member of the Ladies Auxillary at the VFW Harold O'Young Post #2394, and was a big supporter of the Shriners. She was an amazing baker and an excellent cook. Hazel would travel to wherever her family was, traveling to Germany, Georgia, Florida and all over New Hampshire. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. She was the beloved wife of the late Bruno P. Martel. Loving mother of Paula Smith & her husband Michael of Wareham. Caring grandmother of Jarett Robinson, Melinda Thorpe & her husband Oliver, Robert Smith & Michael Smith. Cherished great grandmother of Samantha, Ashley, and Wyatt Wetherbee, Owen Robinson and Ty Smith. Proud great great grandmother of Bruno. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 8:30-10:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Hearts Church, 415 Main St. Malden at 10:30AM. Burial at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives & friends are invited to attend.
