Helen P. 'Patsy' (Murphy) Ball died at Glenridge Nursing Center in Medford Nov.18th at the age of 80. She was born and raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary's Grammar & St. Mary's High School and has been a lifelong resident of Melrose. Patsy worked as an instrument technician in the operating room at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for over 20 years. She has been a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose and enjoyed cooking, singing, dancing and entertaining her family and friends. Patsy was the devoted wife of the late William J. Ball. Beloved mother of Maureen E. DeVivo & her husband Patrick of Melrose, William D. Ball & his wife Laurie of Exeter, NH and the late Patricia (Ball) McLaughlin. Loving sister of Jane Bain of Melrose and the late John Murphy, Alice Vets and May Kearney. Devoted grandmother of Timothy J. McLaughlin, William D. Ball, Patricia E. Ball and Nicholas L. DeVivo. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Friday Nov. 22nd at 9 AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thurs. 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
