Helen L. (Barrett) Carmody died after a long illness at Beth Isreal Hospital Feb. 14th at the age of 81. Helen was brought up in Shaunee Ok, Grad from High School in Shaunee. She lived in Everett for 35yrs, 8yrs in Melrose and the past 8yrs in Stoneham. Helen worked as the Department Manager of Medical Records at Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett for over 12yrs. and during WWII she worked a civilian air traffic controller. She was a member of AARP, Stoneham Council on Aging, a former member of Melrose Senior Citizens and had volunteered for several years at the Arthritis Foundation of Mass. She was the wife of the late Patrick A. Carmody. Mother of Kathleen P. O'Leary & her husband Gerard of Salem NH, Gerald D. Carmody & his wife Joyce of Melrose, Kevin K. Carmody & his wife Eileen of Wakefield, Eileen C. Carmody of Everett and Karen M. Babine of Stoneham. Sister of Kenneth E. Barrett & his wife Mary of OK. Also survived 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Sat. Feb.17th at 10 AM. Relatives and friends invited.
