Helen C. (Mayne) Lord passed away at the Golden Living Elmhurst Center in Melrose on September 2, 2010 at the age of 92. Helen was born in Chelsea on November 30, 1917 to the late George & Jessie (Culverhouse) Mayne. She was raised in Everett and graduated from Everett High School. Mrs. Lord worked as a secretary at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for over 20 years in the fund development office and then for the President of the hospital. After her retirement, she continued to do volunteer work at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for another 20 years. Helen has been a resident of Melrose for over 55 years and was a longtime & founding member of Incarnation Church. Mrs. Lord was a diehard red sox fan and cherished the times spent with her family. Helen was the beloved wife of the late Charles W. Lord. Loving mother of Robert K. Lord & his wife Diane of Melrose and Lorraine Lord-Moon & her husband Edwin of Wakefield. Devoted grandmother of Michele Saelens & her husband David of MD, Nicole Bluette & her husband Michael, Kristen Lord all of Saugus and Ryan Moon & his girlfriend Helen Santos of Beverly. Great grandmother of Justin, Deven, Kyle, Christopher, Megan, Braidon, Lindsey, Katelyn & Tyler. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tuesday, Sept. 7th at 9AM. A Funeral Mass in Helen's memory will be celebrated in The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Monday from 4:00-7:00PM.
