Helen P. (Limone) Palano passed away suddenly at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, on May 30, 2016. She was 82 years of age. Helen was born in Boston on August 12, 1933 to the late Peter & Antonia (Lombardo) Limone. Helen was raised in the West End of Boston, graduated from Girls High in Boston and has been a resident of Melrose for the past 57 years. Mrs. Palano started out working in the court house in Boston, then as a hairdresser and moved into retail clothing sales. She worked at Classic Kids store in Melrose and then at the Alano Dress Shop in Melrose. Helen loved Melrose, spending time in Melrose Square and helping the people in Melrose. Mrs. Palano loved to clean, shop for family members and friends, cooking, baking and knitting. She was a member of the Melrose Sons of Italy and in recent years enjoyed spending time at the Milano Senior Center. Helen also enjoyed going on cruises. She was beloved wife of the late Charles S. Palano. Loving mother of Katherine Ruggiero & her husband Paul of Wilmington, Annette DiFilippo & her husband Robert of Revere. Proud grandmother of Paul Jason Ruggiero & his girlfriend Lisa Terranova, Jenna Marinello & her husband Louis, Taryn & Kyle DiFilippo. Caring sister of Connie Athanas, Rose Balesteri, Lena Fortunato, Carmella Scott, , Peter Limone & his wife Olympia, the late Joseph Limone & his wife Laura and the late Josephine Micale, Mary Bramante, Salvatore, James, Roy & Frank Limone. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Family and friends may gather at Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St. Melrose, on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 10:00-10:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 11:00AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
