Obituary

Henry P. Doyle, a lifelong resident of Melrose, passed on May 24, 2026, at the age of 80. Henry was born in Everett, MA to the late Helen (Butler) and Henry F. Doyle. He was raised in Melrose, and graduated from St. Mary’s Grammar School, BC High School, and Boston College. After which he married his wife MaryEllen to whom he was married to for 55 years and they remained in Melrose to raise their four children.

Henry worked for over 40 years at General Dynamics, when he retired, he was the head of government accounting. He also served on the board of directors for the Brightbridge Credit Union and took great pride serving in the National Guard for many years. Henry loved playing golf at Mt. Hood Golf Course in Melrose with his good friends. And he always enjoyed traveling down to Green Harbor in Marshfield in the summertime. But what truly brought Henry joy was attending his grandchildren’s events and sports games, he was their number one fan. 

Henry was the beloved husband of MaryEllen (Tedesco) Doyle of Melrose. Loving father of Christopher Doyle & his wife Rachel of Amherst, NH, Sean Doyle of West Newbury, MA, Jessica Doyle of Dracut, MA, and Erin Bunten & her husband David of Holliston, MA. Proud grandfather of Connor, Lilah, Sarah, Tyler, and Alexander. Predeceased by his sister, the late Peggy Roberts & her late husband Jack. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Visiting Hours will be held from 4:00-7:00PM on Monday, June 1st, 2026, at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, at the Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose. Interment to follow the mass at Wyoming Cemetery, 205 Sylvan St., Melrose. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
