Henry J. "Harry" Dunn passed away at Signature Health Care in Ft. Myers, Florida on June 21, 2010. He was 91 years of age. Harry was born in Everett, was raised in East Boston and graduated from East Boston High School, Class of 1937. He lived in Malden for several years, was a resident of Melrose for over 30 years and has lived in North Fort Myers for the past 5 years. Mr. Dunn was a marine diver for the Crandall Dry-Dock Company of Dedham for over 30 years, eventually becoming President & Chief of Diving Operations for the company. Harry was a noted expert on marine salvage & repair facilities and worked as a consultant to the US Government on ship & harbor repair. He also worked as a consultant to Canada on the repair and restoration of their fishing industry. While working for the French Government in Tahiti many years ago, Harry met a diver named Jacques Cousteau. He and Mr. Cousteau remained lifelong friends and shared many conversations about diving throughout the years. Mr. Dunn was a world traveler; enjoyed trips to Europe, South America, the Pacific Rim Territories, Tahiti and enjoyed winters in Hawaii. Harry was a former member of the Malden Elks, the Malden Moose, Charles River Yacht Club and the Lauderdale Small Boat Club. He was the devoted husband of the late Dorothy (McClellan) Dunn. A funeral service will be held at Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tuesday, June 29th at 11AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Monday from 4-7PM.
