Henry P. Jancsy passed away in Springfield on Thursday, September 15, 2016. He was 92 years of age. Mr. Jancsy was born in Everett on October 9, 1923 to the late William & Carolyn (Vaughn) Jancsy. He was raised in Everett, graduated from Everett High School and Boston College. Henry served his country with pride as a US Navy Captain USNR Retired, he started his career in 1943 in the South Pacific during WWII and had a long and distinguished career, retiring in 1978. He also worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as the director of administration for the Secretary of State. Mr. Jancsy was a resident of Melrose since 1957 and he and his wife Clare enjoyed spending time in Deerfield Beach Florida. Henry was a serious investor who loved the stock market, was an avid book reader and always did the New York Times crossword puzzle. He was a member of the VFW Harold O'Young Post #2394 in Melrose and the Saugus VFW Post 2346. Above all he was completely dedicated to his children and grandchildren. Mr. Jancsy was the beloved husband of 70 years to Clare (McEnroe) Jancsy. Loving father of the late Dennis Jancsy & his wife Rose of OH, Ann Marie Bryson & her husband Jim of FL, Steven Jancsy of Haverhill, Richard Jancsy & his wife Linda of NH, Cathy Griffin of CT, Paul Jancsy of NY, Terry Poisson & her husband Robert of Longmeadow and Robert Jancsy & his wife Charlene of Wakefield. Caring brother of Elaine Ridge & her husband Thomas of Everett and the late William & Edward Jancsy. Also survived by 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 from 3-6PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Monday at 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10:00AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited. Interment with military honors at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
