Henry E. Molvar, 81, died at Mass General Hospital Saturday morning after a brief illness. Born and raised in E. Boston, Henry graduated from Commerce High School in 1937. He attended Wentworth Institute, where he studied diesel engines, plumbing & electricity. He served in the Navy and rose to Chief Motor Machinist Mate. Henry joined the Melrose Police Dept shortly after his discharge from the Navy, where he served as the Prosecutor for the Dept and attained the rank of Lieutenant. He was an avid golfer playing at Mt Hood in Melrose, Myrtle Beach, and in Florida. Henry was a carpenter and builder, working for the Lombardo Builders and in his off-hours built homes for members of his family as well as a summer home for his family at Sebago Lake, ME. He was the husband of Mary F. ( Hugo ) Molvar. The loving father of Henry E. Molvar Jr of Williamsburg PA, Robert G. Molvar of Lexington, Paul J. Molvar of Wilmington, Philip J. Molvar of Bedford, John Molvar of Newburyport, Barbara A. Molvar of Syracuse, NY, Joan M. Prescia of Groveland and Christine M. Molvar of Melrose. Loving grandfather of 12 grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Brother of Margaret Davenport of Marblehead. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St Melrose on Tueday Feb 6 at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St Mary's Church, corner of Myrtle & Herbert Sts., Melrose at 9 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Monday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. WW II Navy Veteran. Former Melrose Police Lieutenant.
