Herbert G. Muse, of Melrose, died at his home surrounded by his family on August 31, 2008 at the age of 77. Herbert was born & raised in Malden and a graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1950. After high School, he served as a Sargent in the Marine Corp. during the Korean War. Herbert worked as a Manager for Verizon in Boston for 37 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of the VFW Harold O'Young Post # 2394 & St. Mary's Church, both in Melrose for over 50 years. Herbert was the beloved husband of Gladys E. (Egan) Muse for 50 years. Cherished son of the late John A. & Alma (Comeau) Muse. Loving father of Jack Muse & his wife Denise of Middleton, Bill Muse & his wife Patricia of Newbury, Dan Muse & his wife Heather of Bradford, Patricia Deasy & her husband Francis of Quincy and Jim Muse & his wife Flicker of PA. Caring brother of Eileen Voigt & her late husband Edwin, Lorretta Mullane & her late husband Thomas, all of Melrose, the late Richard & Audrey Muse and Lorraine & Joseph Grigas. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday Sept. 4th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Korean War Marine Corp. Veteran.
