Herbert F. "Herb" Upton Jr., of Melrose, died accidently on Dec. 30, 2013 at the age of 59. Herb was born in Manchester, NH, raised in Saugus, a graduate of Saugus High School, Class of 1972 and went on to earn his degree from Merrimack College. He worked as a Pilot for Signature Aviation at Logan Airport and was a full time Dad. Herb coached Pop Warner football in Melrose for 11 years and never missed any of his children's activities. He was a member of the Coast Guard Academy Parents Assoc., the NRA, American Kenpo Karate Federation and was 2nd black belt. Herb enjoyed fishing, boating, weight lifting, the ocean, the 3 stooges and spending time with his family in the back yard pool. He was the beloved husband of Kimberly (Stott) Upton for 26 years. Loving father of Samantha & Jonathan Upton, both of Melrose. Devoted son of Theresa & the late Herbert Upton, Sr., of Saugus. Caring brother of Rick Upton of TX. Uncle of Kristen & Kelly Upton of TX. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 4th from 10AM-2PM at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. There are no funeral services.
