Howard H. Aborn Sr. died Wed. March 21st at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital at the age of 78. He was born in Belmont on April 7,1922 and was the son of the late Bertram and G. Dorothy (Hunter) Aborn. Howard was raised in Medford, Graduated from Medford High School Class of 1940 and has lived in Melrose the past 47yrs. He worked as a pipe fitter for the local #537 and was employed at Pioneer Engineering Co. of Salem for many years. Howard was a SGT. in the US Army Air Corps during WWII and he was also a Pearl Harbor Survivor. Howard was a member of the D.A.V. Post# 120 in Melrose, Americal Legion Post# 0090 and the VFW Harold O'Young Pos#2394. He and his wife Lucille were charter members of The Incarnation Church in Melrose and Howard was instrumental in the building of the ballfield at the church. Howard worked many hours preparing the ballfield and helping the local children with their baseball skills. He was also a senior alter server at Inacarnation Church for many years. He was the husband of the late Lucille M. (DelMastro) Aborn. Father of Sandra Pignone & her husband David of Medford, Howard H. Aborn Jr. & his wife Susan of Melrose, Judith Coish & her husband Paul of Salem NH and Ronald Aborn & his wife Susan of Salem NH. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Sat. March 24th at 9 AM. Funeral mass in The Church of the Incarnation 425 Upham St. Melrose at 10 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Friday 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
