I. Joseph Corso of Lynn, formerly of Melrose, died November 6, 2007 at his home. He was 72 years old. Born on March 15, 1935 to the late Joseph & Phyllis (Leone) Corso, Joe was raised in Bostons West End and a resident of Melrose for over 35 years. He was a member of St. Marys Church of Melrose where he served as an usher and collected the money for Mass. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Melrose since 1956. Joe dressed up as a clown during special events with the Knights, worked Bingo and was a bartender. Mr. Corso loved his family, dancing, traveling, all sports, especially the Red Sox and even tried out for professional baseball at Fenway Park, hitting a double to right field! He worked as a truck driver with Fox & Ginn Freight Company of Reading for 26 years and was a proud member of the Local 25 Teamsters Union. Later he worked for Dupont as a truck driver. Joseph and his wife Millie had lived in Lynn for the past 4 years. He was the devoted husband of Mildred M. (Richards) Corso, Loving father of Kevin J. Corso & his wife Judith of Melrose, Janice M. Conte & her husband David of Wakefield & Patricia A. Marchant of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of 6 & great grandfather of 3. Brother of Roy Corso & his wife Marilyn of Attleboro. Special uncle of Michael Deary of Melrose. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Mon. Nov. 12th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Family & friends invited. Visiting hours Sun. 2-6PM. Interment is private.
