Irene M. (Willett) Stack passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, on Sunday January 13, 2008. She was 87 years of age. Irene was born in Nova Scotia, came to the US at the age of 5 and was raised in Dorchester. She lived in Somerville & Medford for a few years and has been a resident of Melrose for over 60 years. Mrs. Stack was an EKG technician at Massachusetts General Hospital and Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for 15 years and then worked as the office manager at the Melrose Fire Department for over 15 years. Irene had a very warm personality, a keen mind and enjoyed keeping up with current events. She modeled when she was younger, liked to read & write poetry and loved to dance. Mrs. Stack enjoyed watching baseball & golf and was a big Patriots fan. Beloved wife of the late Edward G. Stack Sr. Loving mother of Beverly A. Richardson & her husband Herbert of CT, Joseph E. Stack of St. Maarten, Edward G. "Chuck" Stack Jr. & his wife Cheryl, Mary Kay McIntyre & her husband Michael all of Reading and Terri A. Uzzle & her husband John of Melrose. Sister of Marthea Murphy & her husband John of Canton. Sister-in-law of Kathy Willett of Harwich & Alice Stack of Woburn. Loving grandmother of Amy, Andrea, Edward III, Adam, Katie, Megan, Jared, Jade Irene & Wendy. Great grandmother of Brett & Nathan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Saturday January 19th at 9:00AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Friday 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
