Isabel (Sahl) Smith passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She was 91 years of age. Isabel was born and raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School. Mrs. Smith lived in Medford for many years, Florida for over 5 years and the past 14 years in Melrose. She was a homemaker and a talented singer, songwriter and poet. Isabel was a very warm and outgoing person who enjoyed writing songs for family, friends and politicians. Wife of the late Bernard J. Smith (Winner of the 1942 Boston Marathon). Mother of Carol A. Wickersham of Washington State, Stephen J. Smith of Honduras and Joanne M. Smith of Medford. Grandmother of Jeremy, Michael, Gabriel, Suleyka, Daniel & Matthew. Funeral services will be private. Arrangements by The Gately Funeral Home of Melrose.
