James E. Babin, of Somerville, died at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford on April 11, 2011 at the age of 68. Jim was born & raised in Somerville and a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1960. He received his Bachelors degree from Suffolk University in 1964 and his Masters degree from Columbia University in New York. Jim was very proud of his time as a Staffer for Ted Kennedy in Washington D. C. He worked as a Health Care Fund Raiser for the Waltham Hospital for many years and also worked as a Switchman for Amtrak for several years. Jim loved dogs, kids, his home in Arlington and time spent in Lubec, Maine. He was the devoted brother of John F. Babin of Somerville, Eugene R. Babin & his wife Linda of SC and Fred G. Babin & his wife Gale of Melrose. Uncle of David Babin of the Netherlands, Michael Babin of GA and Marissa Babin of Melrose. Funeral service will be private.
