James R. Conaboy passed away at his daughter's home in Melrose on Saturday, November 6, 2010. He was 78 years of age. Jim was born in Scranton, PA on October 11, 1932 to the late James P. & Rose (Renard) Conaboy. He was raised in Scranton and graduated from Scranton Technical High School. Mr. Conaboy lived in Binghamton, NY for over 30 years and the past 13 years in Melrose, MA. Jim was a salesman and Regional Manager for the American Brand Cigarette Company for 35 years. After his retirement, he moved to Melrose to be close to his daughter & grandchildren and worked part time as a doorman at Gately Funeral Home. Jim will always be remembered for his big smile, warm personality and his sense of humor. He did volunteer work for meals on wheels, was a member of several bowling leagues and was a member of the Knights of Columbus while living in Binghamton. Mr. Conaboy loved his trips to Saratoga and taking cruises with his wife Joyce. He enjoyed the ocean and was a Philadelphia Eagles and a NY Yankees fan. Jim was the beloved husband of 52 years to the late Joyce (Gutowski) Conaboy. Loving father of Kim M. Roberts & her husband Andy of Melrose. Devoted grandfather to Cameron & Carly Roberts. Loving brother of Carol R. Conaboy of Throop, PA. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Wednesday, Nov. 10th at 8AM. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Jim's life will be held at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4:00-7:00PM.
