James M. "Jimmy" Costello of Malden died suddenly at his home on Thursday, December 1, 2011. He was only 56 years old. Born on August 9, 1955 in Cambridge, he was raised in Malden and a 1973 graduate of Malden High School. After high school, Jimmy worked as an auto mechanic with Tregor Engines of Malden for a few years and then went on to receive his Bachelor's of Science Degree from the University of Massachusetts in Boston where he specialized in brain research. Jimmy was a resident of Malden since elementary school, loved his dogs, was a good auto mechanic, and enjoyed his friends, Colebrook, NH, all sports, fishing, reading and painting. He was the loving son of the late John F. & Eleanor J. "Ellie" (Doran) Costello, caring brother of Dianne M. Costello-Ford & her husband Martin of Melrose, David W. Costello of Malden, Christine A. Kudlate of N.C., the late John F. Costello, Jr. & the late Paul J. Costello. Uncle of 4 & Great Uncle of 4. Also survived by many Aunts & Uncles. A Funeral Service will be held in the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wednesday, December 7th at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-8PM in the funeral home. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
