James E. Glynn passed away at the Ledgewood Nursing Home in Beverly, on February 7, 2015. He was 89 years of age. James was born in Everett to the late James & Anna (Mohan) Glynn, was raised in Malden and attended Malden High School. While in high school he joined the US Navy and served his country with pride during WWII. Mr. Glynn was involved in Operation Overload prior to the D-Day Invasion as well as the D-Day Invasion in Europe. After his return for WWII he worked as a technician for Massachusetts Electric Company for 40 years. He lived in Melrose from 1961 -1982 before moving to Beverly. He and his wife Jean ran Glynn Realty in Melrose during the 1970's. James enjoyed boating, summering in Wolfeboro, NH on Cow Island and was a "Jack of all trades"; working on all his homes throughout his life. Mr. Glynn was a dedicated family man who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, visiting his 5 sisters, spending time with the grandchildren and loved family gatherings, especially around the holidays. Jim was the husband of the late Jean A. (Morehead) Glynn. Father of James K. Glynn & his wife Marie of Beverly, Daniel G. Glynn & his wife CuiLian Hu of TX, Thomas M. Glynn & his late wife Maia of Melrose and the late Mary Jean Glynn. Grandfather of James, Matthew, Jing & Victoria. Brother of the late Bette Beatrice, Eleanor McDougall, Mae Schofield, Peg Markiewicz & Madeline Sousa. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 4:00-7:00PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Thursday, February 12th at 10:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St. Melrose at 11:00AM.
