James J. Grady passed away at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home on Sunday, October 27, 2013. He was 92 years of age. Mr. Grady was born in Boston on August 31, 1921 to the late Francis & Eileen (Hammon) Grady. He was raised in Malden, graduated from Malden High School, where he played goalie for the hockey team. James served his country proudly during WWII in the US Coast Guard. Mr. Grady lived in Melrose from 1957 to 1997 before moving to New Hampshire. He was a big sports fan, studied word puzzles and language and spoke Latin. James was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who loved taking family vacations to Cape Cod every year up until this past year. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia J. (Roubian) Grady. Loving father of Patricia MacHenry & Earl of AR, James M. Grady of Hudson, NH, Darryl K. Grady & Mary of Londonderry, NH, Gregory F. Grady & Betty of Hampton, NH, Darlene Grady Duggan of Essex, MA, Mark P. Grady & Patricia of Saugus, MA and the late Kalmer Berg. Brother of Frank Grady of Tewksbury and the late Eileen Ciccorella, Mary Ciampa & Betty Grady. Also survived by 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, October 31st from 4-8PM, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home on Friday, at 11:30AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial with military honors in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
