James F. Keating Jr. passed away at home, on August 28th, at the age of 64. Jim was born and raised in Cambridge, graduated from Cambridge High & Latin and Northeastern University in 1965, where he was captain of the baseball team. Mr. Keating has been a resident of Melrose for the past 31 years. He worked for the Shell Oil Company in sales & as Territory Manager for 25 years and then for Gulf Oil Company (formerly Circle K) in sales for the past 13 years. James enjoyed boating, snow shoeing, baseball and was an avid golfer. James was the husband of Josephine A. (Buttimer) Keating. Father of Sharon M. Morelli & her husband Frank of Lynnfield and Sandra J. Pasquale & her husband Greg of Charlestown. Brother of Geraldine Gardner & her husband Bernard of Arlington, Helen Villemaire & her husband Arthur of Salem NH and Ronald Keating & his wife Lee of Arlington. Grandfather of Kathryn, Jessica, Victoria & Melissa Morelli. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tues. Aug. 31st at 9AM. Funeral Mass in The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Monday 4-8PM.
