James P. Lane,79, died at Woburn Nursing Center, friday, after a lengthy illness. Born in Dorchester, he was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High, class of 1940. Jim served in the Army in WWII. He lived in Malden for over 20 years before moving to Melrose 28 years ago. He was a Professional Golf Teacher at the Middleton Golf Club since 1965 and was a Lifetime member of the Profesional Golf Association of America-Northeast Section. Lane, of Melrose, formerly of Malden, July 27, Jim was the husband of the late Anita B. ( Cassaboom ) Lane. Father of James B. Lane of Georgetown and Robert '' Danny'' Lane of Malden. Grandfather of Sean, Christopher and Kerry Ann and Great Grandfather of Amanda. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held in the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St., Melrose, on Tuesday July 31 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Monday 4 to 8 pm.
