James F. Moriarty passed away in Pompano Beach, Florida on Thursday, March 12, 2009, he was 92 years of age. James was born in Revere, Ma on July 19, 1916 to the late John "Jack" Moriarty & Katherine (Brennan) Moriarty. He was raised in Revere and graduated from Revere High School. After high school, Jim first worked at the Charlestown Navy Yard and then in the requisition office for the building of the USS Bunker Hill. Upon completion of the ship and the start of WWII, Jim enlisted in the US Navy and requested assignment on the USS Bunker Hill Aircraft Carrier. The USS Bunker Hill was the most damaged ship in the war to return to base under it's own power after Kamikaze attacks. Jim was proud of the fact that he made it all the way back to port with his ship. After the end of WWII, Jim left the US Navy and entered the US State Department, consulate service. He was stationed in such places as Helsinki, Finland, Moscow, South Korea, Nairobi Kenya, Japan, and Washington D.C. After his time in the consulate service he returned to the United States, became an antique dealer and started an antique shop in Kennebunkport, Maine. From there he relocated his shop "The Pig & Saddle" to Charles Street in Boston, where he remained until his retirement. Mr. Moriarty lived in Kennebunkport, ME for several years, Boston, MA for many years, Jaffrey, NH for over 15 years and the last 6 years in Florida. Jim was very proud of these times in his life and enjoyed sharing his stories with family. Mr. Moriarty was the brother of the late Eileen Harrington, Kathleen, Jack & Leonard Moriarty. Moriarty of Fort Wayne IN, Michael Moriarty of South Bend, IN., James Moriarty of Littleton MA and Katherine (Moriarty) Brumm of Fort Wayne IN. A graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 175 Broadway Rd., Malden on St. Patrick's Day, Tues. March 17th at 11AM. Relatives & friends invited.
