James L. O'Brien, 54, died at Lynn Union Hospital unexpectedly Saturday, Dec 13th. Born in Stoneham, he lived in Melrose for over 35yrs, 8 yrs in Malden and had been a resident of Lynnfield for the past 9 years. Jim graduated from Melrose High Class of 1968, recieved his Bachelor's Degree in 1972, his Master's Degree in Labor Relations in 1975 at University of Mass, Amherst, he recieved his J. D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1979 and was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar. While earning his degrees at University of Massachusetts, he was a teaching assistant at the Labor Relations and Research Center from 1981 - 1986, he was an attorney with Rowerdink and Orlandi, from 1986 - 1989, and he served as conciliator for the Department of Industrial Accidents. He joined McNaught, Moriarty & McNaught in 1989 and became a partner of Moriarty & Associates in 2001 in Wakefield. Jim was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield and an coach and instructor for the Lynnfield Youth Soccer League .Husband of Christine M. (Lucas) O'Brien.Father of Maryanne K. ' Maisy ' O'Brien, Leanne C. O'Brien and Matthew B. O'Brien all of Lynnfield. Brother of Charles O'Brien of Danvers. Son of the late Bernard J & Eleanor ( Lawrence ) O'Brien. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W Foster St, Melrose, Thurs Dec 18th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 758 Salem St, Lynnfield at 10 AM.
