Obituary

Veteran: JAMES THOMAS PALLADINO, a longtime Melrose resident died Sunday, February 19, surrounded by his loving family. He was 90. He was born in Boston on Sept. 11, 1915, the son of the late Frank and Anastasia Palladino. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Corkum Palladino and the brother of Monsignor Alfonso G. Palladino of Melrose and William V. Palladino of Wakefield. Mr. Palladino attended Boston Latin School and graduated from Boston University with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. During WWII he served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy onboard the USS Yorktown (CV-10) in the Pacific. During his tour of duty onboard the USS Yorktown, he served as the aerial gunnery officer of Navy Fighter Squadron VF-5, The Fighting Hellcats. Afterwards, he was reassigned to the Naval Air Station at Westerly, Rhode Island. After the war, Mr. Palladino worked for the Veterans Administration for several years, during that time he and his family resided in Washington, DC. In 1953, he and his family returned to Massachusetts, where he had accepted a position with the US Internal Revenue Service. He was a manager at the IRS Service Center in Andover, MA where he worked for many years. When he retired, he held the position of chief budget officer for the Eastern Region. Mr. Palladino was past president of the building association of the Knights of Columbus, Melrose Council No. 128, where he was instrumental in establishing the Melrose K of C Hall, 1961. He was an active parishioner of St. Marys of Annunciation Church and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was devoted to his family. He was greatly respected and recalled by family members and friends as a wonderful, caring, and generous man who will be missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him. James Palladino leaves 7 children: James Palladino, Jr., Robert Palladino, Lawrence Palladino, Nancy Forney, Richard Palladino, Margaret Kinne, and Susanne Ringhausen and their spouses. He also leaves 12 grandchildren: Jason Forney, James Kinne, Noelle Denny-Brown, Andrea Palladino, Sonja Palladino, Frank Palladino, Alexander Ringhausen, Christen Ringhausen, Angela Palladino, Nicholas Palladino, Jacquelyn Ringhausen, and Genevieve Ringhausen. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday Feb. 24th, at 10AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 11AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thurs. 2-4 & 7-9PM. Burial in Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of MA, 129 Morgan St. Norwood 02062
