Obituary

James G. Phillips, of Melrose, died at the Whidden Hospital in Everett on Nov. 12, 2010 at the age of 89. Jim was born & raised in Revere and a graduate of Revere High School. He went on to Tufts University & the University of Minnesota and earned his law degree from Northeastern University. Jim was a Trial Lawyer in Melrose for many years and a member of First Eastern Middlesex Bar Association of Mass., Trial Lawyers Association, Bellevue Golf Club, Boys Scouts of America, Boy's Club and Incarnation Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Melrose, the Melrose Elks and a past President of the V.F.W. in Revere. Jim served in the Army during WWII in the South Pacific Theater with the 295th Joint Assault Signal Company. He was the beloved husband of the late Sandra (Moriarty) Phillips. Loving father of James G. Phillips Jr. & his wife Beth of Winthrop, David S. Phillips of St. Peters, MO. & the late Mark A. Phillips. Cherished grandfather of James G. Phillips III and David S. Phillips Jr. Brother of Judith Slaughter of OR. Also survived by several nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday Nov. 27th at 8:45AM. Funeral Mass in the Church of the Incarnation 425 Upham St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours on Friday from 4-8PM. Interment will private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Autism Speaks, 1 East 33rd Street , 4th Floor, New York, NY 10016.
