James E. "Jim" Reynolds of Melrose, died on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 30, 1932 in Arlington, a son to the late George & Frances (Gabriel) Reynolds, he was raised in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School. Jim enlisted in the United States Army and served proudly during the Korean War. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Boston University and his Master's Degree in teaching from Boston State. He worked as a teacher in Tewksbury for a few years and then in the Melrose school system for 45 years. Mr. Reynolds taught the 6th Grade at the Lincoln Elementary School, the Middle School for a few years and finally as a substitute teacher in the Melrose High School. Jim enjoyed working out, lifting weights, the Red Sox and all Boston Sports. He was the hockey goalie for the Boston University Terriers while attended B.U. and was also a member of the Local Teachers Union for many years. James was the devoted husband of Barbara A. (Scannell) Reynolds, with whom they shared 48 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Marc A. Reynolds of Melrose, Ann Marie Reynolds of Saugus, Deborah L. Reynolds-Bisson & her husband James of Melrose & Garnet O. Reynolds-Mignacca & her husband Angelo, also of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of Kaitlyn, Cody & Caroline Bisson, Taylor, Todd & Emma Mignacca. Caring brother of George Reynolds & his wife Patti of AZ. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, Thursday, March 24th at 8AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Jim's memory at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Family & friends respectfully invited.
