James D. Shea, of Providence, RI, formerly of Melrose, peacefully passed away while surrounded by loved ones on Nov. 20, 2009. Jim touched many people with his independent spirit and unique sense of humor. His family and friends will miss him deeply. Jim was born in Melrose on July 15, 1959 to J. Donald & Valerie (Edgar) Shea of Melrose. He was raised in Melrose, graduated from Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, Ca. and went on to earn his degree from Suffolk University. He resided in Melrose for 19 years, Boston for 8 years and the past 5 years in Providence, RI. Jim worked as a Software Developer for Outside the Classroom Inc. in Needham for the past 8 years. Jim was the beloved husband of Wendy (Czolpinski) Shea. Devoted father of twins Zachary & Olivia Shea. Loving son of J. Donald & Valerie (Edgar) Shea of Melrose. Caring brother of Judith Flynn & her husband Joseph, Sandra Bednowitz & her husband Alan, all of Melrose and Joanne Morton & her husband John of Duxbury. Also survived by nieces, nephews & cousins. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday Nov. 28th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Friday from 4-8PM. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boston.
