James C. Sullivan died at the lahey Clinic in Burlington on Aug. 17th at the age of 84 after a brief illness. James was born and raised in Winchester and graduated from Winchester High School in 1935 and has lived in Melrose for over 20 years. He was a member of St.Mary's Church in Melrose for many years. James was an Electronics Engineer for Browning Laboratories in Winchester for many years and after retiring also worked for the AARP at the Melrose City Hall and Melrose Library. James was a civilian in the Air Force as a radio operator for the Air Transport Command. He was the former husband of Eleanor I. (Outridge) Stryke and Joan (Josephson) Sullivan, Father of Barbara A, Goldsmith of Sudbury, William J. Sullivan of Florida, James C. Sullivan Jr, Miriam J. Pierce, Kevin Sullivan, all of Woburn, Eric Sullivan of Billerica, Timothy Sullivan of Woburn, Also survived by his brother Timothy P. Sullivan of Woburn. James was the brother of the Late John, Joseph, Richard and Charles Sullivan and Miriam Feeney.Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held in the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday August 19 at 7pm. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting Hours will be prior to the service from 4-7pm .
