James W. Worthylake passed away at the Youville Hospital in Cambridge, on Friday, May 16, 2008. He was 82 years of age. James was born in Malden, raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School, Class of 1942. Mr. Worthylake was a WWII Navy Veteran. He lived in Malden for 40 years and Melrose the past 42 years. He worked for the US Post Office in the Woburn office for over 30 years in logistics and then for A.J. Murphy Supply House for several years. James had a passion for life, enjoyed skiing, golfing at Mt. Hood Golf Course, the Melrose Fish & Game Club, the Melrose Elks and was a longtime member of the VFW Harold O'Young Post # 2394 in Melrose. Husband of Ruth P. (Mallon) Worthylake and the late Phyllis (Dokton) Worthylake. Father of James R. Worthylake & his wife Jennifer of New Zealand and Jerry N. Worthylake & his wife Cindy of Lynn. Stepfather of Gerald P. Goulette his wife Kathleen of Malden, Richard S. Goulette & his wife Kristine of Tewksbury and Wayne E. Goulette & his wife Ann of Wakefield. Grandfather of Lauren, Ashley, Alicia. Step-grandfather of Katelyn, Richard, Lindsay, Mark, Sam. Great Grandfather of Shane, Aiden & Cloey. Brother of Marion Jones & her late husband Paul of VT, Ruth White of Walpole, late Ned Worthylake and his wife Norma of Melrose, the late Louise & Walter Maines. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wednesday, May 21st at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited.
