Jane C. Thurber of Melrose died suddenly on August 19, 2004 in Savannah Georgia, just two months after her twentieth birthday. Jane was born in Boston and grew up in Melrose. She was a graduate of Melrose High School, class of 2002, where she was a member of the Chorus. She participated in the Project Bread Walk for Hunger several times. In the Melrose area, Jane worked at Melrose Day Care and at Joanne Fabrics. A talented artist from a young age, Jane had gone to Savannah to study Fashion Design and Art at Savannah College of Art and Design. Family and friends will cherish the many drawings, paintings, and small sculptures that she gave them. She was a loving daughter and a generous and loyal friend. Jane was the beloved daughter of Michael J. Thurber and Linda J. Lorenz of Melrose, and the cherished sister of Anne Kathryn (Kate) Eby & her husband Nathan of USAF in Germany. She was the granddaughter of Jack R. & M. Constance Thurber of NJ and the late Walter H. & Evelyn C. Lorenz. Also survived by many aunts, uncles & cousins. At the family's request, visiting hours & funeral services are private. Arrangements by the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose.
