Janet R. (Poore) Carroll, a 53 year resident of Melrose, died peacefully on January 27, 2017 at the age of 80. Janet was born in Reading, MA on December 28, 1936 to Harvey & Rose Poore. She was raised in Reading and graduated from Reading High School. Janet married George J. Carroll in 1956 and shortly after moved to Melrose where they raised their sons. Janet owned Montvale Car Wash, Liberty Car Wash, and Boston St. Carwash. She also owned and operated Homestyle Laundry in Revere. When she wasn't busy working or raising her sons, Janet loved spending time at her house on Plum Island. In addition to Plum Island, Janet enjoyed trips to Foxwoods, Las Vegas, and Europe. She will be greatly missed by her entire family. She was the beloved wife of the late George J. Carroll Sr. Loving mother of George J. Carroll Jr. & his companion Linda Hogan of Melrose and Jeffrey Carroll & his wife Paula Farese of Lynnfield. Proud grandmother of George III, Colleen & Jennifer of Wilmington, and Anthony & Isabella of Lynnfield. Sister of Gloria Hovey & her husband Daniel of Portsmouth, NH, Lorraine Herman & her late husband George of South Lawrence, MA, and the late Dorothy Leslie of Tewksbury, MA. Also survived by many loving nieces & nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose, on Wednesday February 1, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend.
