Janet A. (McClafferty) Leonard passed away at her home on Jan. 6, 2006 surrounded by her family & friends. She was 68 years old. Born in Somerville to the late James & Ruth (Fortier) McClafferty, she was a graduate of St. Josephs High School of Somerville, class of 1955. Janet was an administrative assistant at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for 9 years and also worked at the Cotting School in Lexington for 6 years. She served as a lector at St. Adelaides Church in Peabody and was the loving wife of William A. Leonard, with whom they shared 27 years of marriage. Loving mother of Joanne M. Stepmother of William Leonard & his wife Carol of Peabody, John Leonard of Danvers, Thomas Leonard & his wife Mary of Byfield, Louise Blackadar & her husband Ronald of Peabody, Marion Brown & her husband Kenneth of Lynn, David Leonard & James Caccaciola of Winchester, & the late Elizabeth Harlow. Caring sister of Ruth Capen & George Lucas of Arlington, Mary Fitzpatrick & her husband Paul of Lexington, James McClafferty & Jean Nicholson of Woburn, John McClafferty & his wife Dorothy of Saugus, Gail Foley & her husband William of Rochester, NH, Stephen McClafferty & his wife Gail of S. Weymouth, & the late Paul McClafferty, Ellen Weiss & Ann Kelly. Sister-in-law of Louise Keenan of Arlington. Cherished grandmother of Elizabeth Ford, Colin McMaster Erik & Mallory DeAngelis, John & Timothy Crowley, Chad & Caitlin Vigneau & special Mimi to Michael Kaczmarek.
