Jean Marie (Sullivan) Bennett passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital on Monday, October 31, 2011. She was 72 years of age. Jean was born in Melrose on December 6, 1938 to the late Julian & Julia (Gilligan) Sullivan. She was raised in Melrose, attended Melrose schools and Melrose High School. Mrs. Bennett worked for over 20 years at New England Memorial Hospital in Stoneham in the house keeping department. Jean has been a resident of Everett for the past 6 years and cherished the time spent with her children and granddaughter. She loved her cats, had a great group of friends and always looked forward to getting together with "the girls". Jean was the wife of the late Arnold R. Bennett. Loving mother of Kevin M. Bennett & his wife Joanne of Tewksbury, Karen A. Bennett & Kenneth J. Bennett both of Everett. Beloved grandmother of Nicole Bennett. Devoted sister of Barbara Munson of Reading, Carol Jensen of Woburn, Charlene Kent of Saugus and the late Janice Rich. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. A service to celebrate Jean's life will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday Nov. 4th at 11AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
