Obituary

Jean Marie (Monahan) Conn passed away at her home in Saugus on Saturday June 1, 2019. She was born in Medford on June 2, 1935 to the late Arthur & Arline (Berrigan) Monahan. Jean and her brother Richard grew up in Melrose. She graduated from St. Mary's Elementary School and St. Mary's High School in Melrose. Following High School, she attended Chandler School for Women. Jean worked at the Provident Institution For Savings until her marriage to Donald Conn in 1958. During their 28 years of marriage, they had five children: Donald Jr., Susan, Stephen, who passed away in 1963, Andrew and Jeffrey. Jean and Don enjoyed summers together at their house in Chatham until his passing in 1986. They were blessed with a tight-knit circle of close friends. Jean was a devoted mother and grandmother who was never happier than when she was spending time with one or more of her ten grandchildren. She maintained her wonderful sense of humor to the very end of her life. Jean had an enormous impact on all who knew her. She will be sorely missed by her loving family. Jean was the beloved wife of the late Donald L. Conn. Loving mother of Donald L. Conn Jr. & April of Melrose, Sue M. Hamilton & Matthew of Tewksbury, Andrew J. Conn & Sharon of Marshfield, Jeffrey M. Conn & Candice of Wake Forest, NC, and the late Stephen Conn. Sister of the late Richard Monahan. Cherished grandmother of Donald L. III & Emily R. Conn, Meghan & Alex Hamilton, Andrew J. Jr., Stephen, Daniel & Sarah Conn and Rachel & Julia Conn. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 4:00-7:00PM. Funeral procession from Gately Funeral Home on Friday morning June 7th at 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10:00AM. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Memorial contributions may be made in Jean's name to the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, 1341 Montgomery Ave., Rosemont, PA 19010.
