Jean M. (Benedetto) Mendes, of Seabrook, formerly of Melrose, died peacefully at home on August 21, 2021 at the age of 84. Jean was born in Malden, MA on December 26, 1936 to James and Frances (Cataldo) Benedetto. She was the wife of the late Ronald I. Mendes. Loving mother of Janis M. Lago & her husband Mike of Seabrook, JoAnne Mendes of FL, and Ron J. Mendes & his wife Emily of FL. Proud grandmother of Grace and Ronnie. Caring sister of Louise Napolitano and aunt of Mark Cunha, Gary Cunha, and David Cunha. Jean was raised in Malden and Medford; and attended those public schools. She raised her family in Melrose and resided there for over 30 years. Jean worked as a bookkeeper for many years and will be remembered as a crazed patriot fan. She was also a wonderful cook and baker; and had a love for music and dancing. In her spare time, she would knit dolls that she would then donate to local children's hospitals. Visiting Hours will be held on Saturday, August 28th, 2021 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, MA. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend.
