Jennie L. (Goodwin) Ward died after a long illness at the Center for Optimum Care in Wakefield Jan. 5th at the age of 95. Jennie was born in Gloucester, raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary's Grammar & St. Mary's High School and has been a lifelong resident of Melrose. Jennie worked for the N.E. Telephone Co. as an operator for over 20yrs retiring in 1971. She worked as a volunteer at New England Memorial Hospital for several years, she was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church, a former member of St. Mary's Church Ladies Sodality and a member of the N.E. Telephone Pioneers. She was the wife of the late Irwin W. Ward. Mother of Lois McCarthy & her husband Louis of Wakefield, Robert Ward & his wife Linda of Andover, Nancy Craddock of Derry NH and Richard Ward of Melrose. Grandmother of Teri Ward, Robin Condon, Neal Benson, Michael Ward, Nicki Pierog and the late Ward Benson. Great grandmother of Emily Condon and Samantha Pierog. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wed. Jan.9 at 9AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited.
