Jessie S. (Stewart) Cairns, of Melrose, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Dec. 12, 2009 at the age of 85. Jessie was born & raised in Scotland and received her degree from Lesley College in Early Childhood Education. She worked as a caregiver at EMARC in Melrose for 5 years, was a member of Scottish Charitable Society in Boston and enjoyed Knitting & Reading. Jessie was a lifelong Melrose resident, loved spending time with her many friends at the Cochrane House in Melrose and her family was the most important thing in her life. Jessie was the beloved wife of the late Albert Cairns. Loving mother of Sandra M. Brown of Melrose, Joan E. McLeod & her husband Scott of Lynnfield, Allison A. LeBlanc & her husband Raymond, Barbara A. Durney, Albert H. Cairns & his wife Pamela and Jennifer A. Buckley & her husband Jay, all of Melrose. Cherished grandmother of Amy, Kerri, Kurt, Eric, James, Russell, Allison, Heather, Jessie, Rachel and Maura. Caring great grandmother of Annabelle, Dylan & 1 on the way. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday Dec. 17th at 10AM. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jessie's name to Scot's Charitable Society of Boston, 1170 Hancock St., Quincy, MA 02169.
