Joan M. (Killam) Cabral, a lifelong resident of Melrose, passed away on October 20, 2018 at the age of 80. Joan was born in Boston, MA on December 19, 1937 to Frank & Catherine (Sullivan) Killam. She was raised in Melrose and graduated from St. Mary's High School. Joan worked for Verizon for 32 years in the marketing department. She always had a smile and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Joan was the beloved wife of Edward J. Cabral of Melrose. Loving mother of James E. Cabral & his wife Laurie of Malden, and Catherine E. Leonard & her husband Steven of Stoneham. Proud grandmother of Bryce & Samantha Leonard and Elizabeth Bennett. Visiting Hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, on Wed., Oct. 24, from 4:00-8:00 PM. Family & friends may gather for the funeral procession at the Gately Funeral Home on Thurs., Oct. 25, at 9 AM, followed by a 10 AM Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend.
