Joan Ann (Dwyer) Curtin passed away at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Stoneham on March 15, 2016. She was 85 years of age. Joan was born in Cambridge on December 13, 1930 to the late Francis & Irene (McLaughlin) Dwyer. She was raised in Cambridge & Medford and graduated from Medford High School. Mrs. Curtin has been a resident of Melrose for over 50 years, residing on Grove St. for many years. Joan worked for New England Telephone Company as an operator and in the office at Verizon for over 34 years, retiring at the age of 79. It was all about family for Joan and she enjoyed every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. She also loved going to Foxwoods and to Las Vegas several times a year with her daughters Judy & Ellen. Mrs. Curtin was the beloved wife of the late Charles B. Curtin. Loving mother of Daniel J. Curtin & his wife Debbie of GA, Thomas E. Curtin of Las Vegas, Judith A. Corso & her husband Kevin of Melrose, Brian C. Curtin & his wife Mary of N. Reading and Ellen M. Vervaeke of Dunstable. Sister of the late Leo McLaughlin, Irene Sousa, Patricia Angelo & Francis Dwyer. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 8:30-10:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial at Tewksbury Cemetery in Tewksbury.
