Joan M. (Hubbard) Gamber, of Melrose, died at the Brigham & Women's Hospital on July 24, 2014 at the age of 80. Joan was born & raised in Saugus and a graduate of Saugus High School, Class of 1950. She resided in Saugus from many years, Everett for 16 years and Melrose since 1980. Joan worked as an Assembler for Transitron and also as a Clerk for American Mutual Insurance Company, both in Wakefield for many years before her retirement. She was a member of the Women's Group at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Woburn for many years. Joan loved to walk her dog & best friend Coco and enjoyed making rugs for everyone in her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick S. Gamber for 25 years. Loving mother of Deborah Ward & her husband Tom, Frank Vitukevich & his wife Patty, all of Saugus and Laurie Buckingham of Melrose. Caring sister of Edith McLaughlin & her husband late Mickey of Saugus, Leslie Hubbard & his wife Joanne of FL and the late Pauline Johnson & her late husband Richard. Sister-in-law of James Gamber of OH & the late Carl Gamber. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, many nieces & nephews and her "Best 4 legged friend "Coco". A funeral service will be held at The Redeemer Lutheran Church, 60 Forest Park Rd. Woburn, on Tuesday, July 29th at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Monday from 4-8PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
