Joan F. (Meehan) Harrington, of Wakefield, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Nov. 4, 2011 at the age of 69. Joan was born & raised in Melrose and a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1961. She was a homemaker and resided in Melrose until 1968 and the past 39 years in Wakefield. Joan was a member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church for many years and her family & good friends were very important to her. She was the beloved wife of Kevin N. Harrington for 43 years. Loving mother of Shannon L. Cahill & her husband Robert of Lynn. Cherished grandmother of Tatum & Kevin Cahill. Devoted sister of Joseph Meehan & his wife Sandy of ME, Catherine Dunn & her late husband Robert of Melrose, Marylou Christopher & her husband Edward of Medford, David Meehan of Danvers, Maureen Curdo & her husband Stephen of NH, James Meehan & his wife Patricia of Melrose and the late Ann Marie Barbaro and Sheila Palmitesta & her late husband Vincent. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday Nov. 9th at 8:45AM. A funeral mass to celebrate Joan's life will be held at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 5-9PM. Burial in Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
