Joan C. Milo passed away at Blueberry Hill Healthcare in Beverly on October 1, 2018. She was 82 years of age. Joan was born in Melrose on September 2, 1936 to the late Daniel & Jeannette (Paprazynski) Lawton. She was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary's Grammar & High School and received her associated degree from Bunker Hill Community College many years later. She worked for the New England Telephone Company as an operator and then as a supervisor prior to raising her family. Joan lived n Malden from 1954 to 2011 and the last 7 years in Danvers. Mrs. Milo was active in the Mother's Club, as a CCD teacher and as a den mother at St. Joseph's Church in Malden and volunteered assisting with under privileged children in Malden. She volunteered at the Massachusetts Audubon Association in Ipswich where she enjoyed feeding the birds, bird watching; she was an animal lover, loved flowers and working in her garden. Mrs. Milo enjoyed traveling to Italy, taking cruises with her late husband Leonard and trips to Foxwoods. She also enjoyed playing tennis with the tennis group. Joan was the beloved wife of the late Leonard P. Milo, Jr. Loving mother of Leonard P. Milo, III & his wife Kristina of Methuen and Stephen Milo of Miami, FL. Cherished grandmother of Kassandra & Victoria Milo. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, Oct. 5th from 4-7PM. Procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 6th at 8:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church, 790 Salem St., Malden at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
