Joan Dewey (Milton) Paul, a woman dedicated to a life of learning, cycling, competition and creativity, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, in Pembroke Pines, Florida, at the age of 92. Born on July 20, 1933, in Brockton, Massachusetts, Joan’s lifelong pursuit to broaden her talents began early. She graduated from Boston University with prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honors before her journey eventually led her to Miami Springs, Florida. It is there, in an art class, that she met her future husband, John J. Paul, and they began to build a busy life and a family of six children.

Best known for her passion for cycling, Joan was a competitive cyclist who defied the limits of age, holding multiple national senior records. She also competed internationally, securing the 40km record for women in 1980 in Colombia, South America. Be it cycling competitions, or as a staple in the local 4th of July parade, riding her bike while decked out in red, white, and blue, or riding until the age of 85 with her beloved "Secret Cycling Society" spin class, her cycling passion and American patriotism were unmistakable.

Whether cruising in her beloved black VW Bug, lost in a good book, or bringing in more animals, Joan approached life with curiosity and vigor. She will be remembered for her spirit, creativity, and focus on passing along her passions to her children.

Joan is survived by her six children: John, Beth, Michael, David, Jodi, and Timothy; and her seven grandchildren: David, Nicholas, Bianca, Angelina, Brooklynn, Taylor, and Mason. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Bertha (Harrington) Milton; her husband, John J. Paul, and her grandson, Warren J. Paul.

Memorial services will be held privately, with a Celebration of Life to be scheduled in the near future.
