John M. Belmonte, 71, died at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, Burlington saturday after a brief illness. Born and raised in E. Boston, John graduated from E. Boston High School,entered the Army and served with 2nd Engineering Combat Battalion at Ft. Lewis WA. He was a Climatological Engineer at the Natick Labs,for the US Government for over 20yrs. and retired in 1977. John was a Disabled veteran, a parishioner at St Adelaide's Church in Peabody. Prior to moving to Peabody in 1978, he had lived in Malden for many years. John was the beloved husband of Mary B. ( Lauria ) Belmonte. Devoted father of Debi Volpe & her husband John of New York City, Steven Belmonte & his wife Marilyn of Burlington, John, Dennis and Michelle Belmonte all of Peabody. Dear grandfather of DonaLyn, Teresa and Marisa Belmonte. Brother of Anthony Belmonte of Melrose and Elizabeth Lessa of FL and the late Grace Jannoni, Christopher and Michael Belmonte. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday June 27 at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St Adelaide Church, 708 Lowell St, Peabody at 10 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visting hours Tuesday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
