John J. Butler died suddenly at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Sunday Nov. 16th at the age of 91. He was born and raised in Everett, graduated from Everett High School, lived most of his life in Everett and the past 40 years in Melrose. John worked as a Bus Driver for the MBTA for 35 years retiring in 1977. He was a Army veteran of WW II, a member of the Melrose Elks and a parishioner of St Mary's Church. He was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth ' Betty ' ( McAdam ) Butler. Devoted father of John P. Butler & his wife Kelley of Hopedale, Susan McNamara & her husband Terence of So Portland ME. and Michael Butler of Melrose. Beloved grandfather of Melissa Butler of No. Attleboro and Scott Butler of Hopedale. Brother of Helen Doyle of Melrose and the late Margaret Keefe, James Butler and Lawrence Butler. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St Melrose on Thurs Nov 20 at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St Mary's Church, corner of Myrtle & Herberts Sts, Melrose at 9 AM. Rlatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wed 5 to 9 PM. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Everett.
