Obituary

John W. Ciampa, born on July 27, 1943, in Boston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026. He lived a life marked by kindness and generosity.

John grew up next to the Lincoln School in Melrose, where he developed a love for sports, particularly baseball, and found joy in ice skating on the homemade rink behind the school. He graduated from Melrose High School, where he became known for his approachable nature and willingness to lend a hand to those in need. John's kind-hearted personality endeared him to many, and he was always ready to assist a friend in distress.

After high school, John enlisted in the United States Marines and served honorably during the Vietnam War, and was a Purple Heart recipient. His love of sports continued in the service and took pride in boxing during his time with the Marines. John had a lifelong passion for classic cars, which reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and history.

John is remembered lovingly by his brothers Nicholas Ciampa and his companion Barbara Ciampi, Charles Ciampa, and his sister Patricia Ciampa. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Anna (Tracia) Ciampa, father John Ciampa, and sister Joanne Carlson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John will be laid to rest with Military Honors in the Veteran's Section at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
