John M. Cusolito, of Melrose, died at the St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham on May 30, 2014 at the age of 85. John was born & raised in Somerville and a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1948. He worked as a Claims Manager for Maryland Casualty Company and Sloane & Walsh Law Firm in Boston for many years before his retirement. He served his country in the Army National Guard for 10 years during the Korean War era. John resided in Everett for several years, Melrose since 1959 and was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield for many years. He was a member and President for the Melrose Men's Softball League, contributor for the Somerville Museum and a longtime follower of Somerville High School Sports teams. John enjoyed spending his time riding his bike, dancing, researching his family tree and playing softball. He loved to spend his summers in Harwichport and his family, children and grandchildren were the most important part of his life. John was the beloved husband of Martha R. (Mallard) Cusolito for 59 years. Loving father of John M. Cusolito & his wife Doreen of Wenham, Sheila M. Cusolito & her husband Daniel Vellum of Sudbury, Paul J. Cusolito & his wife Lisa of Melrose and Peter C. Cusolito of Leicester. Cherished Grumpy of Lillian, Caroline, Michael, Kentrahvey, John, Jonathan, Christopher and Matthew. Caring brother of Josephine Hilty & her husband George of Peabody and the late Arthur Cusolito & his late wife Anne. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday, June 4th at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
