John J. Dami, Jr., of Woburn, formerly of Melrose, died at his home on August 31, 2013 at the age of 73. John was born in Everett, raised in Melrose and a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1958. He was a disabled American Veteran serving in the Navy for 4 years, the Air Force and also the Army National Guard. He went on to East Coast Aero Tech in Bedford to earn his license to work on Aircraft, Coyne Electric School and Northeast Regional Vocational Technical Nursing Program. John worked as an Aircraft Mechanic for U.S. Airways for 35 years, also worked as a Nurse for EMARC in Melrose for 20 years before his retirement. He spent his winters in Florida and his summers at York Beach, ME and Meredith, NH for many years. John loved to spend his time with his family & grandchildren and was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose. He was the beloved husband of Judith P. (Beckford) Dami for 48 years. Loving father of John J. Dami III & his wife Wanda of NH, Judith P. Boone & her husband Rod of Lynnfield and Julian J. Dami of Woburn. Cherished grandfather of Jonathan, Christopher, Joseph, Julianna, Zachary, Anthony, Meredith and Adrianna. Caring brother of Rita Dale of Melrose, Damijan Tuscana of Fl and the late Maureen Daly. Dear friend of James & Janice Carr of Melrose, Vincent & Carol Keegan, formerly of Melrose. Also survived by brothers & sisters in laws and many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday, Sept. 7th at 9AM. A Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Friday from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
