John C. 'Jack' Doherty died at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center on Nov. 24th at the age of 72. Jack was born in Boston, raised in Everett, graduated from Everett High School and attended Northeastern University. He has lived in Melrose the past 38 years, was a Ham Radio Operator, enjoyed Astronomy and classical music. Jack worked as a laser research enginneer for Sanders Assoc. and then for Lockheed Martin Corp. in Burlington and New Hampshire for 30 years retiring in 1994. He was also a US Army Korean War Veteran. Jack was the husband of Bernice A. (Amirault) Doherty. Father of Diane M. Richmond & her husband Jon of Boylston, Robert J. Doherty & his wife Barbara of Medfield and Linda M. Doherty of Rockport. Grandfather of John and Katherine Doherty. Funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wed. Nov. 27th at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Tues. 4-8PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Cemetery Peabody.
